Our latest high-performance Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) alloy, VACODYM^® 902 TP, is entirely free of heavy rare earths (HRE) – without compromising magnetic performance.  VACODYM^® 902 TP is the material of choice for high-performance applications that also demand maximum sourcing flexibility and resilience, making its production a vital step toward resilient supply chains and a sustainable product strategy.

Global reliance on critical raw materials – especially heavy rare earths (HREs) such as Terbium (Tb) and Dysprosium (Dy) – pose increasing challenges for key industries such as aerospace, industrial automation, electromobility, robotics, and other mission-critical applications. Volatile raw material costs and market uncertainty are placing considerable pressure on global supply chains.

This underscores the critical importance of reducing reliance on HREs, by developing alternative supply chains and establishing domestic, bespoke processes – from metallization to magnet production.

The stakes are too high for America’s national and economic security to rely on a volatile supply chain. HRE-free magnet production is integral to safeguarding our national security.

While e-VAC is proud to have HRE-free solutions for magnet production, we also recognize that to meet America’s needs today and in the future for mission-critical applications, we must continue to produce magnets that include HRE materials, with a clear research-and-development focus on reducing the volume of HREs required.  

To diversify and stabilize its supply chain, e-VAC has HRE supply deals with Torngat, Aclara, and Ucore, as well as several additional partners to be announced in the future.
